The Welsh Government says flights between Anglesey and Cardiff will not resume after a two-year suspension, arguing that its rail service from Holyhead to the Welsh capital is more attractive to business travellers.
Studies found that unless the flight was almost full every day (regarded as highly unlikely given the reduction in business travel since the Covid pandemic) it was worse for the environment than any other form of travel.
Furthermore, east of Bangor, other links are faster door to door including rail. The Cardiff-Holyhead service was recently upgraded to use Mk 4s hauled by Class 67s.
