BAKERLOO EXTENSION SAFEGUARDED

LAND FOR a future extension of the Bakerloo Line from Elephant & Castle to Lewisham has been safeguarded, as Transport for London published the outcome of a consultation showing support for the extension.

An extension of around 9km is proposed from Elephant & Castle to Lewisham, serving New Cross Gate and two new stations on the Old Kent Road. A further extension to take over the Hayes branch from national rail services has also been mooted and was broadly supported in the consultation.
