BIOMASS WAGONS FOR GBRf

GB RAILFREIGHT has signed a haulage contract with Lynemouth Power Ltd to build 50 new biomass hopper wagons.

The new hoppers are estimated to start their service in October 2017, with GBRf planning to run 27 trains per week between Port of Tyne and Lynemouth Power Station.

GBRf says it previously ran coal services to the power station until April 2015. It is estimated that over 37,000 tonnes of material will be delivered each week.
