FREIGHTLINER PARENT Genesee & Wyoming has completed the acquisition of Pentalver Transport. Pentalver operates off-dock container terminals at Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway and Tilbury, as well as an inland terminal located at Cannock, beside the Chase line between Walsall and Rugeley in the Midlands.
The company also operates a haulage service with more than 150 lorries, primarily providing daily service between the seaports of Felixstowe and Southampton and its inland terminal at Cannock. Introduction of a rail service to Cannock is a possibility and G&W expects to improve asset utilisation by amalgamating the Pentalver fleet with Freightliner’s fleet of 250 lorries.
