Crossrail 2 could improve transport connections for a vast swathe of the South East, CHRIS CURTIS, Network Rail’s Head of Crossrail 2, told the Institution of Railway Operators
Crossrail 2 is an ambitious proposal aimed at linking the suburban rail networks of south west and north east London with a new tunnel under the centre of the city. Driving the project is the capital’s dire shortage of affordable housing: with London’s population expanding by the equivalent of nine new residents every hour, land is needed for 500,000 new homes over the next decade or so.
