ERTMS AGREEMENT

RAIL INFRASTRUCTURE managers have committed to co-ordinate the deployment of European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) on the triangle of routes between London, Paris and Brussels.

HS1 CEO Dyan Crowther was joined at a meeting in Paris on 19 July by Getlink Chief Corporate Officer Michel Boudoussier (Getlink being the new name for Eurotunnel), SNCF-Reseau President Patrick Jeantet and Infrabel CEO Luc Lallemand (Infrabel is the company responsible for the management, maintenance, renewal and development of the Belgian rail network).

The aim with the deployment of ERTMS is to allow improved interoperability and better punctuality whilst avoiding obsolescence of current systems and increasing capacity. The companies have committed to a common strategy on implementation across their respective high-speed lines, with the aim of sharing expertise, selecting a uniform technical system and working to a common deployment schedule.
