PROGRESS WITH the installation of a 1.4km loop on the Felixstowe branch has been reported by Network Rail during the Christmas holiday period.
The loop will support an increase in freight traffic on the single-track branch, providing up to 10 additional paths in each direction per day. As well as upgrading the signalling power system, NR reports three new switches and crossings have been installed. The project is due to complete in mid-2019.
