KENILWORTH SERVICES

I have considerable respect for Chris Gibb and his knowledge from an accomplished career in the railway industry. However, I am sorry that I cannot agree with him over his remarks (‘Forum’, last month) concerning CrossCountry and Kenilworth.

Mr Gibb’s point was that XC services are already too busy to accept more passengers at Kenilworth and that more capacity (carriages) would need to be added and funding is deficient. Until it lost its train service altogether five months ago, a significant proportion of passengers catching the West Midlands Railway service at Kenilworth did so to board the very same XC services either at Leamington Spa or Coventry, taking longer journeys to places such as Manchester, Reading and Oxford.
