NETWORK RAIL is moving spares for its High Output ballast cleaning and track renewals fleets to a central storage facility at its High Output Operations Base near Sandiacre, Nottingham.
NR predicts the move will save £1.6 million through improved efficiency. The spares were previously stored on the High Output fleet and travelled around Britain, but NR says moving the spares will make it easier for teams to locate the parts they need as well as offering better storage conditions, eliminating the scrapping or overhaul of spares before use.
