HS2 GETS BUILDING

High Speed 2 main construction is formally, officially, undeniably underway.

Welcoming the start of HS2 construction: Prime Minister Boris Johnson on a visit to an HS2 site in the West Midlands.

If you feel like you’ve heard that before it’s because probably, in one form or another, you have. When on 15 April this year the Department for Transport gave approval for HS2 Ltd to issue Notice to Proceed to the four main civil engineering contractors, that provided a green light to begin detailed design and construction of Phase One of HS2. Since then there has been no shortage of activity on site in central Birmingham, Solihull, Old Oak Common, at and outside Euston and, perhaps most eye-catching, the portal site next to the M25 where preparations are advancing for the first tunnel boring machine launch.
