With Notice to Proceed granted for Phase One from London to the West Midlands, HS2 Ltd’s Civils Clients Director MIKE LYONS tells PHILIP SHERRATT what is next for the mega-project
At long last HS2 construction can get underway. After Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave the project the green light in February, the Government granted Notice to Proceed in April for Phase One between London and the West Midlands.
For HS2 Ltd as an organisation, this means a change of focus. The organisation has been developing the concept of the high-speed line and taking Phase One through the hybrid bill process to achieve consent, a process which continues for Phase 2a (Phase 2b’s scope is being reviewed before a bill is brought to Parliament, as the Prime Minister announced in February).
