The rolling stock market continues to be buoyant. New franchises continue to usher in large orders for new fleets.

The latest update of our new orders table (overleaf) actually represents a fall in the total number of vehicles on order compared to the last iteration in our January issue. This is primarily because Siemens has completed the 1,140-vehicle Class 700 order for Thameslink, with all 115 trains now in service on the cross-London route. Also completed are the SWR Class 707 Desiro City order and GWR’s Class 387 Electrostar deliveries. Bombardier is now represented solely by the Aventra while Siemens’ only remaining main line order as it stands is the Great Northern Class 717s for Moorgate services.
