Delivering the infrastructure enhancements required as part of the Thameslink Programme has been a massive challenge for all the partners involved. But perhaps an even greater challenge will be operating the enhanced service, which will ramp up to 24 trains per hour (tph) through the core section between Blackfriars and St Pancras at peak times by December 2019. That these trains will be arriving from destinations as disparate as Cambridge, Littlehampton, Bedford and Maidstone means the operation will have to be very slick.
