£400 MILLION DESIGN WORK

NETWORK RAIL has awarded 82 framework contracts to deliver design services. The deals are worth an estimated £400 million in the current Control Period 6 to 2024, and up to £640 million including the options to extend into CP7 (2024-29).

NR says the new Design Services Framework (DSF) aims to provide access to a wider range of suppliers including small and medium enterprises, which make up around a quarter of the single-discipline suppliers. It replaces the previous Multi-Functional Design Framework.

Four multi-discipline national frameworks have been awarded to Aecom, Jacobs, Mott MacDonald and WSP Alongside these are 78 single-discipline regional frameworks spread across four areas: North West & Scotland, covering NR’s North West & Central and Scotland regions; North East, covering the Eastern region; South East, covering the Southern region; and South West, covering Wales & Western. Two contracts per region have been awarded for 10 single disciplines, including track, telecoms, signalling, electrification & plant, civils & structural, buildings & architecture, and consents & environment.
