RBF seeks donations to hit Christmas target

Rail charity Railway Benefit Fund is urging industry members and supporters to donate to help it reach its Christmas fundraising target of £40,000.

The charity’s Christmas Children’s Appeal is already around 95% of the way to its aims, which will allow it to support 130 railway families this winter. One of the families who has benefitted this year from RBF’s activities is West Midlands-based platform assistant Sally, who is also a single parent. She said: ‘When I lost my overtime and became ill with Covid and had time off work, I found we were really struggling to afford the essentials, let alone think about Christmas costs. At first, I was reluctant to reach out to RBF but I’m so glad I did- they provided us with a grant to buy new winter coats for my children. It’s one less stress for me knowing I don’t have to worry about that cost!’

A donation of £20 could pay for a railway worker’s children’s coat, while £50 could ensure a railway family has enough to eat this Christmas.
