Recycled rail for revived siding

NETWORK RAIL has used recycled track to bring an overgrown railway siding in Eastbourne back into use.

The track was removed during the Brighton main line blockade in February, and was returned to a recycling centre at Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire and offered for reuse. The siding is helping resolve the challenge of limited access to stabling points for On Track Machines (OTMs) in the Sussex coastal area. As part of the reinstallation of the sidings work was carried out to remove overgrown vegetation and to tidy up some walking routes.
