The summer of ’67, the summer of love 50 years ago. Are you going to San Francisco? No – I’m going to Acton Bridge
With ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ on order from my mother’s catalogue, my summer of ’67 was spent just north of Crewe on the West Coast main line at Acton Bridge, Hartford and various fields inbetween. The local shed was 8E, Northwich, and like most of the surrounding yards and private railway system it owed its existence to the mighty Imperial Chemical Industries, which also brought my parents here from Liverpool.
