RMT to hold three more strikes

Deadlock in pay/conditions dispute

RMT members at 14 train operating companies are to strike on 20/22/29 July in the ongoing dispute about pay and conditions.

The union says that despite repeated calls for the Government and rail operators to enter into further negotiations, it has not been invited to further meetings. RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch accused the Government of ‘shackling’ train operators and preventing them from putting forward offers that could resolve the dispute. He added that he and his negotiating team are ‘available 24/7’ for talks.

In response, the Department for Transport claimed that passengers and rail workers are ‘growing tired of union bosses playing politics with their lives.’ It reiterated its call for the RMT to put the existing offer to a members’ vote.

Three more strikes: the RMT has announced more strikes in July. On 29 May 2023, EMR No 170503 calls at Attenborough with the 16.41 Grimsby Town-Leicester.
