ScotRail is assessing the extent of damage caused by a serious fire at Troon station on 17 July following a blaze in the ticket office.

Much of the building on platform 1 has been destroyed and an overhead power cable damaged. Trains were suspended immediately and the line closed to enable ScotRail and Network Rail to assess the structural integrity of the building.

On 19 July, trains from Glasgow Central to Ayr started and terminated at Kilwinning. Nobody was injured in the fire, and while its cause is currently unknown, police have confirmed it was not started deliberately.
