TPS supplies converters for new Metro trains

Turbo Power Systems is to supply electric converters for the fleet of new trains being built for the Tyne and Wear Metro by Stadler.

The converters act as the interface between the pantograph and the power converters and are a critical safety function for the propulsion system. 42 trains are being built for the Metro, and the first are due to enter service from 2023. They will feature automatic sliding steps to improve accessibility, as well as charging points and air-conditioning.
