A digest of the main changes on Network Rail, London Underground and Northern Ireland Railways infrastructure during November 2019; compiled by Martyn Brailsford of the Branch Line Society (www.branchline.uk).

New platform: a new platform alongside the Down Main at Dunbar on the East Coast main line (left) was officially opened on 17 December 2019. Network Rail and main contractor AMCO had worked since May 2019 to build the 271-metre-long platform and a fully accessible steel footbridge with two lift towers. The £13 million project also saw overhead lines renewed and new information screens and waiting shelters installed. It will complement the previous single platform on the loop, where No 385044 is standing in this photo taken on the day of the official opening. No 800113 is heading south on the Up Main with the 09.52 Aberdeen to King’s Cross service.

November sees two minor extensions of the 25kV overhead system, a number of level crossing upgrades and the closure of Edge Hill Power Signal Box amongst other things.
