Ghost train: Network Rail loco No 37219 leads the Exeter Riverside to Penzance track testing service 3Q52 at Bere Alston on the Gunnislake branch in the early hours of 22 April 2020. The consist included a former Caledonian Sleeper Mk 2 seating coach.

A digest of the main changes on Network Rail, London Underground and Northern Ireland Railways infrastructure during March 2020, compiled by Martyn Brailsford of the Branch Line Society (www.branchline.uk).

March saw a downturn in reportable work, partially due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, one significant project that has moved forward is the new platform and track at Stevenage.

ANGLIA

Southminster (2:10A)

Newmans (44M 25ch), Standford’s Farm (39M 27ch) and Tyle Hall (39M 58ch) User Worked Crossings (UWC) have all been upgraded with miniature Red/Green lights to become Overlay Miniature Stop Light (OMSL) crossings. Between Beccles and Lowestoft (2:8) Wrights User Worked Crossing (UWC) at 113M 57ch has been upgraded with miniature Red/Green lights to become an Overlay Miniature Stop Light (OMSL) crossing.
