Trans-Pennine Route Upgrade takes shape

PLANS TO IMPROVE THE MANCHESTER – LEEDS – YORK ROUTE ARE ADVANCING

East-west connectivity has long been a priority across the North of England. The 76-mile rail route between Manchester, Leeds and York, although providing an important link across the region, is slow and lacks capacity, while the neighbouring M62 between Manchester and Leeds is also widely reviewed as unreliable.
