Tytherington quarry revived

Rail Freight

HANSON WAS due to reopen the mothballed Tytherington quarry, north of Bristol, on 19 November.

The company planned to operate trains from Tytherington to Appleford in Oxfordshire, taking pressure of Whatley quarry in the Mendips. Trains are expected to comprise up to 42 wagons.

The quarry is served by a branch from Yate, which has been disused since 2013 and has seen trial workings ahead of the start of the new service.
