As the company moves to production of its first order of Class 230 units for the Marston Vale line, Vivarail Chairman ADRIAN SHOOTER updates PHILIP SHERRATT on developments with the D-train
Vivarail is expanding. The company, which is building Class 230 multiple-units for the main line, is now well underway with its first order for three two-car diesel units for the Marston Vale line from Bletchley to Bedford. The company confirmed the deal in March and said the D-trains will begin operation on the line in December 2018.
Chaired by former Chiltern Railways boss Adrian Shooter, Vivarail has come a long way in the last few years. The company was clear from the outset that its product, with a 60mph maximum speed but good acceleration – would be ideal for specific applications, particularly branch lines or secondary routes with frequent stops.
