VP TO MAINTAIN NETWORK RAIL PLANT

NETWORK RAIL has awarded a contract worth up to £257 million to VP plc for the hire, supply and maintenance of portable plant.

The contract is for an initial period of six years from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2026, with options to extend to 31 March 2028. Thirteen agreements, one for each of NR’s Routes, cover the maintenance and repair of 28,000 items of NR-owned small plant as well as the hire and supply of other small plant. Cost savings of £2.5 million are forecast, while 42 apprenticeships are expected to be created with VP over the six years as part of the contract.

VP is the parent company of Torrent Trackside and Brandon Hire Station, which were among previous suppliers of small plant to Network Rail.
